Needed: A school librarian going to Midwinter who does Frontline Advocacy!
ALA President Camila Alire is searching for a school librarian who is currently doing frontline advocacy in his/her school setting. This is for a panel on Saturday, Jan. 16, from 1:30-3:30. Camila's advocacy initiative is focusing on the development of a program of promotion and marketing of (in our case) the school library media program with paraprofessionals in the library, volunteers and even teachers and staff. They are trained in and perhaps help to develop a targeted message about the value of the school library program. Articulating this message results in students and the entire school community understanding the role of the school library program.
It would be super to have a terrific school library presence on this panel and I am sure this is happening in many places around the country (and world!).
Please let Camila <calire@att.net> know if you can represent school libraries on this panel.
